Do you know her work? if not, then clearly you are not reading House Beautiful, which I find to be an great shelter magazine. Canadian-born Gillian McLeod is the magazine’s designer and she does an amazing job for the publication.
I’m loving her magazine layout, but I wanted to see if I could find more of her work.
And what I found were her fantastic illustrations. These, below, from the New York Times completely won me over. Her hand-lettering (which I love) combined with the furniture pieces make these drawings amazing.
Below, These amazing drawings are from The Coast Weekly, a newspaper in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
I often look a magazines to get inspiration on how to layout project boards in a more graphically-pleasing manner. I think it helps the designer communicate if you give the client to which something he or she can relate. This time I found even more inspiration than I ever expected and that’s just what I need on a Tuesday.
If you will be in or around DC on April 23rd, House Beautiful’s Editor in Chief, Stephen Drucker will be at the Corcoran Gallery of Art. As a part of the museum’s Lecture Series, Considering the Environment in Art and Design, he will be speaking on Nature’s influence on Interior Design.
