A Time to Paint

October12

Hi Everyone!!! Oh how the weekend flies! I have no idea how Monday came around so fast! Last week, thanks to The Washington Post’s Home Section (via twitter), I came across Elle Decor’s Trend Alert on Paint Spatter. The WP Home section posed a question:  Do you like it? My quick answer was yes.

But I think the trend is bigger than Jackson Pollack inspired paint spatter. I think I’m kind of obsessed with paint techniques in general.

I was filled with so much joy when I saw Kelly Wearstler’s custom wallpaper for Porter Teleo I squealed!! That elation was soon followed by more upon seeing these beautiful Paint by Number dessert plates by Anthropologie in there latest catalog. They are $12 dollars each so I may have to get a full set of the 6 different styles.

PAINTBY NUMBERS

Last year I started collecting vintage Paint by Number Paintings so these beauties were right up my alley. If only you could really paint them… Oh well, I’ll just go here for that!

In my 140 character minimum on twitter, I remarked that you need to have the right client to introduce paint spatter, crazy brushstrokes and the like. My lastest obsession does not mean that I have to force them on everyone (just those of you who read my blog).

Happy Monday!

What do you think of the Paint Trend?

I’m Jessica and that quote by Rumi are the words by which I live.

With a BA in Art History and a MA in Interior Design, I am armed to create beautiful spaces where ever I go and I am always researching, learning and doing in pursuit of my creative endeavors. Because I needed a place  where my design ideas,  discoveries, creative whims and inspirations could call home, Design Wonderland was born. Here, in my wonderland, I write about an eclectic mix of all wonderful things that inspire me on a daily basis. Though my first loves have always been art, fashion and design, I am also inspired by my insatiable appetite for good food, good friends, new places, beautiful poetry and lots of tea. My hope is that through sharing my thoughts, you will be inspired to create something beautiful too.

Occasionally I am asked to do product or service reviews. I always speak honestly about the products I love. On the occasion that I do not love something, I follow my mother’s advice. If I don’t have something nice to say, then I don’t say it at all.
