Translating the Trends: Ruffles

Beginning this week and Tuesday and Thursday of next DWJ at The Art of Accessories and I are unveiling our special series, Translating the Trends, to show our four favorite fall fashion trends and how we interpret them for home (me) and beauty (DWJ). And for today’s debut we are all about the Ruffles!
Amidst all of the strong architectural silhouettes revealing themselves for Fall/Winter 2009, I think it’s fabulous to have something soft and feminine to balance it out. But for home the thought of ruffles could have pictures of grandma’s house dancing in your head. Hopefully, my inspiration board will help dispel those those thoughts.

I really want each ruffled piece in the board. Can’t you just picture that pillow in your favorite chair? Or transporting your laundry in that darling bag? Just like their fashion counterparts, feminine frills for home would be a lovely way to cozy up and add a little charm to structured clean lines. With these one could create the perfect feminine modern space. At least that’s the image I have dancing in my head. Where’s my sketchbook?
For more ruffled goodness, make sure you check the post at The Art of Accessories! And don’t forget to check back on Thursday when we tackle another fall trend!
