Inspiration: Under the Canopy

June2

There is something very chic about canopy beds. They toe the line between fantasy and elegance adding some grandeur to a room. Lately I’ve been on a serious search for inspiring ones that I love.

Deep down part of me dreams of a room like the room above, but in reality I’m not so sure that is me. Beautiful though isn’t it?

I also found love in this classic room by Miles Redd from Domino Magazine. It’s a custom design, but that lead me to a similar one from Anthropologie. The delicate, spare iron form makes it seem like it disappears.

This one called, the Under the Apple Tree Canopy Bed, is a laser cut, Scandinavian design that I found on Etsy. Talk about fanciful! I would love it for a little girl’s room (the price tag may be a deterrent for use in a children’s bedroom ), but I’m not sure it is right for grown up me.

My quest for the perfect canopy inspiration led my to this is room below; it is simple and feminine but not overtly girly. The bedroom was Domino style editor Dara Caponigro’s room as featured in The Domino Book of Decorating.

The editors labeled the style “Romantic Modernist” and here I am pondering if that could be me. I love the crisp linens draping over the bed but I need a pop of color and some fun accessories to liven things up a bit. I would not mind a lovely wallpaper in the background either. But a girl’s got to start somewhere and this is a good place.

These are really chic pieces. I would just love to sleep forever under that beauty. :) Haha. I would never want to leave that bed. But anyway, my favorite was the last one. Minimalist and contemporary. I likeee it!
