Weekend Wishes: My Best of Collection Vol.1

April17

This week has been a good one. You know the kind, a little challenging but rewarding at the same time. Today I’m celebrating the close of a good week with a show of my favorite rooms.

1. The Kitchen:

Modern Amenities meets quirky charm. Whats sells this kitchen to me is the dining nook. I love the combination of the Saarinen table, the wooden stools and my heart just sings out for the touch of wallpaper. Surfaces are light in color and reflective and along with the open shelving keeps the light bouncing around the space.

2. Living Area:

This room is warm and cozy with personality. It’s the perfect for room for conversation or for just sitting down to read a magazine or a book. I’m loving the contrasting paint colors. That’s a great way improvise architectural interest especially if a person is renting. The curtains(the fabric which I think is from Les Indiennes) are hung floor to ceiling to give more height to the room. They do not pool, rather, just gracefully graze the floor.

3. The Home Office:

When I saw this cozy bungalow on House Beautiful, I fell hard for it, especially the home office area. With all the wood it could feel so heavy, but the way designer  Mary McGee has mixed patterns with the Ghost Chair and the clean lines of the desk prevents that. It’s a fun place to get to work.

4. The Bathroom:

UMM…HELLO! This bathroom is so wonderful and peaceful that it just screams “escape” to me. It’s more like and an extension of a bedroom…which brings me to…

4. The Bedroom:

Designer Billy Baldwin once said that, “Everything in a bedroom should contribute to an atmosphere of peace.” With that in mind this room represents complete serenity to me. I seriously HEART this room and I’ve been holding it in my stash for a while. I mean really…white washed wide plank floors, lots of natural light and  a mix of vintage furnishings, natural textures and the Moroccan drum tables! I’m already planning to recreate this room.

Its so hard for me to chose my favorite rooms(I mean its like choosing your favorite child), but these have been in my collection for a while. And in that collection they stand out as my room stars. I hope you enjoyed my little show and tell!!

Have a FABULOUS weekend!

xoxo, Jessica

Let the beauty of what you love be what you do. -Rumi

I’m Jessica and that quote by Rumi are the words by which I live.

With a BA in Art History and a MA in Interior Design, I am armed to create beautiful spaces where ever I go and I am always researching, learning and doing in pursuit of my creative endeavors. Because I needed a place  where my design ideas,  discoveries, creative whims and inspirations could call home, Design Wonderland was born. Here, in my wonderland, I curate an eclectic mix of all wonderful things that inspire me on a daily basis. Though my first loves have always been art, fashion and design, I am also inspired by my insatiable appetite for good food, good friends, new places, beautiful poetry and lots of tea. My hope is that through sharing my thoughts, you will be inspired to create something beautiful too.

Beauty is all around,

Jessica
