wonderful graffiti: my b-girl stance

April15

I’m not sure why but I love graffiti, I always have. I’ve told you before of my secret desire to write on walls.

{These pics are from last year’s show Recognize at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery. It was an amazing show— umm…nikki giovanni and shinique smith in one room-loved it!}

So it’s no surprise that I LOVE these cheeky plates from Lovegrove and Repucci:

The collection on the left is the London Delft and New York Delft is on the right and they are modeled in the tradition of Dutch Delftware. I saw them at a lecture on objects at The Philips Collection and fell really hard for them. These are a must have for my tabletop. I would have tea every morning with that cup and saucer.

And a proper table setting is not complete without the proper napkins. These Street Napkins also from Lovegrove & Repucci.

Check out their “ad”; it’s quite entertaining:

And it won’t stop…

Then because I couldn’t stop my obsession, I stumbled upon Cool “Disco” Dan’s website/blog. If you are  from DC or spent any extended period of time here you know “who” he is.  If not check it out anyway…it’s entertaining as well.

or if you want something more decorative from Cool “Disco” Dan, I found this lovely limited edition poster here:

Let the beauty of what you love be what you do. -Rumi

I’m Jessica and that quote by Rumi are the words by which I live.

_1010729

With a BA in Art History and a MA in Interior Design, I am armed to create beautiful spaces where ever I go and I am always researching, learning and doing in pursuit of my creative endeavors. Because I needed a place  where my design ideas,  discoveries, creative whims and inspirations could call home, Design Wonderland was born. Here, in my wonderland, I curate an eclectic mix of all wonderful things that inspire me on a daily basis. Though my first loves have always been art, fashion and design, I am also inspired by my insatiable appetite for good food, good friends, new places, beautiful poetry and lots of tea. My hope is that through sharing my thoughts, you will be inspired to create something beautiful too.

Beauty is all around,

Jessica
