betsey makes me happy

March26

I have a special affinity for fashion designer Betsey Johnson. The first time I saw her cartwheel down a runway, I thought, “I want her job.” Because  any job that made a person flip at the end of must be a heck of a career. Plus she had rainbow hair and as a kid that meant a lot. I didn’t know at the time that Betsey has the same enthusiasm and spark for interior design as she does fashion. Today, I wanted to share her two colorful homes.

Here are some images of her fun and very pink NYC home:

I love this picture. Its part of the reason I love Platner lounge chairs.

I can’t pick which room I love more. yes it’s very pink, but her color choices, layers of textures and modern touches amaze me.

And here’s some images of her Home in Mexico, Betseyville.  Also, Betsey Johnson rents this home to interested vacationer.  Hello, I’m interested!

here’s her lovely kitchen.

This room “Big Lime” is Betsey’s Room.

I admire Betsey Johnson’s zeal and zest and I always get the feeling that she really has fun with life.Which is why I appreciate that more than I ever could growing up. And yes she’s still my favorite fashion designer. As CoCo Chanel once said,  “An interior is the natural projection of the soul.” Betsey’s homes are over the top, but she stays true to herself. That’s the best interior design lesson.

Let the beauty of what you love be what you do. -Rumi

I’m Jessica and that quote by Rumi are the words by which I live.

_1010729

With a BA in Art History and a MA in Interior Design, I am armed to create beautiful spaces where ever I go and I am always researching, learning and doing in pursuit of my creative endeavors. Because I needed a place  where my design ideas,  discoveries, creative whims and inspirations could call home, Design Wonderland was born. Here, in my wonderland, I curate an eclectic mix of all wonderful things that inspire me on a daily basis. Though my first loves have always been art, fashion and design, I am also inspired by my insatiable appetite for good food, good friends, new places, beautiful poetry and lots of tea. My hope is that through sharing my thoughts, you will be inspired to create something beautiful too.

Beauty is all around,

Jessica
