I’m loving these stunning and artful prints from the Fly Girl, herself, Andrea , as they celebrate the beauty of black hair. I’m going to have to find a lovely space for these (umm… mine) because I need to put these prints, framed as a series in a room.

I’ve worn my hair natural for about 12 years and it’s been in locs for the last five. I really can’t imaging having it any other way. I would love to have a reminder of its beauty every day. Click here to purchase the prints.

I’ve finally decided that I needed some calling/business cards. I’m starting to go to more design events representing not only myself but also Design Wonderland so I wanted something a fun and little different (like my beloved blog). That’s when I found ICINGS PRINTS.

You provide the info you want on the card and Designer Aislinn Chuahiock emails back a draft for your approval. After that, You get a high-res final draft that you can print at home or send out to print ( I chose to send mine out to be printed because I found out that I’m picky about card stock – who knew?).

Aislinn is very friendly and helpful. She did a wonderful job and I’m pretty excited about the way they turned out. I can’t wait to share them with you once I get my final printed copies back. Check out her etsy site for her full line of printable and customizable stationary.
Happy Monday!
xoxo, Jessica

Do you know her work? if not, then clearly you are not reading House Beautiful, which I find to be an great shelter magazine. Canadian-born Gillian McLeod is the magazine’s designer and she does an amazing job for the publication.

I’m loving her magazine layout, but I wanted to see if I could find more of her work.
And what I found were her fantastic illustrations. These, below, from the New York Times completely won me over. Her hand-lettering (which I love) combined with the furniture pieces make these drawings amazing.

Below, These amazing drawings are from The Coast Weekly, a newspaper in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

this is called digitize.

this one is jazzfest
I often look a magazines to get inspiration on how to layout project boards in a more graphically-pleasing manner. I think it helps the designer communicate if you give the client to which something he or she can relate. This time I found even more inspiration than I ever expected and that’s just what I need on a Tuesday.
PS…
If you will be in or around DC on April 23rd, House Beautiful’s Editor in Chief, Stephen Drucker will be at the Corcoran Gallery of Art. As a part of the museum’s Lecture Series, Considering the Environment in Art and Design, he will be speaking on Nature’s influence on Interior Design.
